Bensonhurst has been one of Brooklyn’s most recognizable Italian-American enclaves for generations, and that identity is still visible in the social clubs, bakeries, and pork stores along 18th Avenue. The neighborhood’s commercial spine runs across five corridors — 18th Avenue, 20th Avenue, 86th Street, Bath Avenue, and Bay Parkway — adding up to more than 1,200 storefronts by the city’s own count, weighted heavily toward full-service restaurants, medical and professional offices, and grocery stores. That’s a dense, foot-traffic-driven retail strip, and it means a lot of independently owned businesses running point-of-sale systems, back-office networks, and storefront security with no in-house IT department. Bensonhurst is well served by transit — the N train (18th Avenue station on the Sea Beach line) and the D train (18th Avenue station on the West End line) both stop right in the neighborhood, alongside the heavily used B82 Select Bus Service route — so it’s a well-connected part of southwest Brooklyn, even though it sits noticeably farther from our Avenue S office in Marine Park than our closest service areas.
